Career and Life

Helene Faussart is an independent artist, songwriter, singer, writer, music producer, music label owner, social entrepreneur, curator, mother, artivist/activist & üniversal/world wide citizen


Born from a French Father and Cameroonian mother, Helene Faussart grew up in between France and Chad. Back to France for her Law College years, passionated with Africa, arts, writing and music, she then founded Les Nouveaux Griots a non-profit organization promoting Urban & Black arts & Culture in Bordeaux, France. She wrote many articles & contributions for the French Urban press & publications and hosted urban music shows on French radio stations (Tabala FM, Radio Black Box, Generation FM).


With her sister Celia, they create Les Nubians, which first Afropean Soul record in French “Princesses Nubiennes” broke the US Charts in 1999, awarding them with a Lady Of Soul Train 1999 Award, two NAACP nominations, and a Grammy Award Nomination in 2004.


Independent artist & cultural entrepreneur, Helene is currently CEO of Nubiatik Publishing LLC, Les Nubians music & books publishing label, and CEO of Afrocaravan Inc, Touring company. Arts production is at heart, with curating the Carnival of Bordeaux-France in 2004 amongst many other festivals & events, or producing ECHOS-Chapter One: Nubian Voyager, a Book-CD dedicated to Urban Poetry in French and English.


Widely acknowledged as both artist and scholar, Helene presented as a speaker for Columbia University, Harvard University, ASCAP Women, ASALH Convention ( Association for the Study of African American Life & History ), Atlanta National Black Arts Festival, she also performed for the 2013 South South UN Awards Ceremony & 2014 TEDx Denver. She is the founder of the Makeda Movement and the NÜ UNIVERSITY Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to foster & host educational, social, arts & health/wellness programs in Africa.


Les Nubians and their band continue to perform at international venues and stages around the world.
